Built in 1910 as the West Side Mercantile, this building has always been the heart of Gig Harbor’s waterfront. From its early days as a general store to the legendary era of “3-Fingered Jack” Miller, it has remained a local landmark.

In 1973, Peter Stanley transformed the space into the Tides Tavern. For over 50 years, the Stanley family nurtured it into a beloved community gathering place. Coincidentally, 1973 was also the year our founder, Budd Gould, opened Mad Anthony’s, the restaurant that would become Anthony’s.

In 2026, the Tides begins a new chapter as part of the Anthony’s family. We’re not here to reinvent it. We’re here to keep the grill hot, the taps flowing, and the tradition alive.
